Oyoun Theater

  • In January 2008 parts from Adamdam and Solo Siento were shown in the theater, followed by post show discussion and workshops the localaudience was exposed to contemporary dance for the first time.
  • In 2008 Arkadi has received the honorable grand from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, for creation and community, with the help of this fund a series of workshops, classes and lectures were held at the theater, exposing the local audience to contemporary dance and dance theater.
Magdal Shams is one of the six Syrian villages that remained after 1967 war in Israel and is home today to around 10,000 of the Golan's 18,000 Syrian Druze community. Oyoun theater group was established in 2003 in Magd El Shams by the writer Muataz Abu Salah and the actor and director Ihab Salami.
In 2003 the founders of the group gathered people from four Druze villages located in the aria creating the theater production ‘Dream Play’. After the success of the first project the activity of the group expended, the group produced numerous theater productions done both by young and mature actors. One of the last productions of the group was ‘The Merchant Of Venice’ directed by Halifa Notour. The group strives to be a diverse community theater that offers a stage not only to professionals but, as well, to people who loves to act and express themselves.
Recently there are five groups working in Oyoun theater guided by professional mentors. Among the mentors are the actress Amal Kais, the actor Ihab Bahoot and the actor and director Eli Maman.
